Okay, two highlights of the weekend were getting sunset and sunrise pictures. Sunset pictures on my end weren't that good. Wandering a small town in the winter can be quiet. Orillia seems to be very calm when you get out of the downtown core this time of year. As well the waterfront has nothing going on. It can seem melancholy as well. Doesn't mean that the pictures are though.

So I finally got around to uploading them as well. I had the job done at the local Shoppers Drug Mart that still does 1 hour development, free scan as well. I find the film appears a little muted though. I can't complain really, after all the roll expired back in 2003. Good stuff to practice with. If you know when and where to go you can get some rolls real cheap. I went to a photo show/flea market where they were selling all sorts of older camera gear. This weekend we were in the north part of the city. Real north part. As in North of the 401 highway. I was the planner and organizer for this walk so I tried to find all the good places to check out. Here they have pottery, jade, and other items from the cities past. There's a large model of the Tang dynasty palace, a map of the city, and other items. We were a little rushed so we couldn't spend as much time as we wanted in the museum. The whole area is about a good half day to just explore the garden as well. It was a great day weather wise. A little hot and muggy, but no rain. Besides we were wandering the campus of University of Toronto where there is plenty of opportunity for shade and exploring. If ever in Xi'an, you have to check out the Tang Dynasty Dinner and Show. Worth the price of admission, and the pageantry is wonderful. You do have to realize that it's a glorified, and sanitized, version of the Tang era. It's still good for the broad sense of the time and people.
