Film Noir Shoot: Strobist Meet Up

Well, I got the pictures done the best I can. We were working with three models that showed up. We took pictures of them singly and two together. Shooting in the late afternoon and early evening was good practice of using speed lights in different lighting. I think I learned something by going out to this shoot.

A New Direction?

Well, things sometimes need light. I picked up a speed light a little while ago for those times when the on camera flash didn't have the range or power. So here I am with this high powered gadget (to me at least) and no idea on how to use it. Well there's a Flickr group for that. Welcome to the first Toronto Strobist Group shoot that I went on last weekend.

The location was the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant down in the beaches. The theme was Film Noir, and the art deco look of some of the buildings was perfect. A member organized the meet, arranged some models and a make up artist, and we were tasked with bringing our gear. Well with me, just the one speed light.

I won't go into all the gear I saw, I think I will skip straight to some pictures. No models yet. They get to see their pictures before I post them online. Only way to be fair about it. Besides there is still some post production work that needs to be done. These pictures were mostly test shots, and the guy that organized them modeling in a suit he brought. Here we go...
