Toronto Photo Walks: Queens Quay...The End

Okay I think I have dragged this out long enough. I took a fair amount of pictures, and tried to get a little artistic at the end. Different views of different things. It's helped that I have been through most of this area before, so I didn't really need those large and wide views. On the other side of the Canada Malting plant, by the ferry to Billy Bishop Airport there's a play ground and splash pad. Had a little fun there. We were planning on crossing to the airport to take skyline pictures but the weather wasn't co-operating.

We wandered up Bathurst street. We were aiming for Amsterdam Brewery and then the pub. A simple end to the day. there were a few shots to be taken along the way.

The brewery was disappointing. No tours, no tasters, just a few interesting things. We took some pictures then headed for a pub at King and Bathurst.

One fun shot we saw, then it was the red rocket to home.

Toronto Photo Walks: Queens Quay Canda Malting and Ireland Park

Well, things have been busy over the weekend and week so I will continue with the walk today. We shall see what tomorrow brings and the rest of the week. So last thing we left off was with the swans. Continuing on we walked bast the Canada Malting building on the east side heading towards the ferry to Billy Bishop Airport (or Toronto Island Airport).

At the south of the building we came to Ireland Park. I had been looking for this location a couple of times before. I hadn't found it and it was worth the wait. The day was perfect to stumble across this monument to survivors of the Irish Potato Famine that came to Toronto in the 1800's. Haunting, stark, and wrenching emotionally.

The statues weren't the only part of the park and memorial. There was a large rock wall and small garden type area there as well with a pillar of glass blocks. We were there during the day, and I have a hunch that the glass pillar lights up at night. I may have to check it out some other time.

That's it for today. See you all tomorrow where I think I will wrap up the entire walk.

Toronto Photo Walks: Queens Quay, Rain and Stuff

After lunch we continued on our way. Lucky for us it hadn't rained yet, alas our luck was about to run out.

When it started it was coming down cats and dogs. We had to hold up under an awning while we waited for it to abate. Still it did pose some opportunities, and I tried to use my flash for other things. Something I am still trying to learn properly.

Finally the rain let up and we continued on the way. Having fun, visiting a fire station, and sauntering towards the end of the harbour.

We got to the Music Garden and took our group shot and enjoyed the location. There were lots of opportunities with wet items and great imaginations.

Before we reached the end of this location we spotted some swans and their offspring. Talk about attention.

Anyway that's it for today. I will either continue this tomorrow, or pick it up on Monday. Depends on what happens with work and stuff. Enjoy your plans.
